ECU Remapping How to get it done for the Best Price in Brisbane
ECU Remapping allows you to use most of the hidden potential in your vehicle’s engine.
Yet in order for us to address the initial question of “ECU Remapping How to get it done for the Best Price in Brisbane” let’s talk about ECU remapping advantages & disadvantages first.
As you know, ECU remapping or “Tuning” isn’t new, and Australians have been doing it for years. It’s in fact, safe for your vehicle’s engine. Yet provided remapping is done by tuning specialists who know how to do it right. If you look at remapping from a tuning workshop point of view the main advantage should be divided into two goals an owner of a vehicle may have:
ECU ReMapping for Power Output.
This is when ECU remapping is done only to gain more power. Typically power gain can be somewhere between 10% to 30%. Power gain depends on the engine manufacturer’s specifications. When we (Brisbane Turbo & Tuning) say that ECU remapping can give you 10% to 30% of additional power we are being conservative. Most importantly our remapping practices have a safe approach. We refuse to implement aggressive solutions on everyday utes or cars. There are “specialists” in the tuning world who claim more gains can be achieved with their solutions yet the question should always be asked – if it’s more – would that be safe? We only work on a vehicle if we know that all tuning we do will improve the vehicle’s performance. Yet the desired outcome is safely achievable. Sure, if you want to tune your car for a race our approach changes.
After all combustion engine principles haven’t changed it needs and for a diesel more fuel & more air to produce more power and for a petrol engine in addition to the two it also needs timing. Essentially remapping does just that – adds what an engine needs and as a result more power is produced.
If we compare diesel vehicles vs petrol ECU remapping
2. Components disabled.
ECU remapping can be done for “EGR delete” or for “AdBlue delete” and so on. Some vehicles can (need) to have the coolant temperature setting to be changed (Holden & Jeep). Others need flaps to be switched off (VW). Often ECU remapping would include “power tune & EGR delete” or any other variants yet not only component disabling but power output increase as well. This is done that way due to the simplicity of adding an additional step to the remapping process.
Now, for the clarity of our discussion let’s look at what a component disabling or deleting is:
All remapping is done by editing the original ECU maps. Typically to get more power, maps which are responsible for fuel, air and (if petrol) ignition timing get edited to the desired output. Or alternatively, if your vehicle is equipped with a turbocharger there are maps to control the turbo actuator to control the wastegate.
If the goal is to disable a component ECU maps would include changes to the component action. For example, if you want “EGR Delete” as well as the power increase. Now remapping would include power maps (fuel & air for a diesel) and EGR (Exhaust Gasses Recirculation) maps and EGR simply would never be able to achieve new sets and as a result. In other words, EGR won’t engage in the engine running process. Yet the public calls it “EGR Delete” even though nothing is getting “delete” as such only digital mapping is edited.
ECU ReMapping Prices in Brisbane
Now, let’s talk about ECU Remapping prices in Brisbane. Our company would possibly place itself in the happy medium – we are not the dearest and certainly not the cheapest. Prices for ECU Remapping are controlled by two components:
a) Cost of equipment to be able to tune a vehicle. There are a few major tool & device makers in the world. One for instance Alientech KESS 3 manufacture or the other one is DimSport Trasdata. Both manufacturers sell their products for more than $10,000 plus a subscription annual fee usually $2,000 plus. This simply means for any workshop in Brisbane that wishes to tune cars the initial cost of entry is very expensive.
b) Cost of remapping solutions. Usually, once a new model of vehicle is out, tuners around the world start to work on solving how to improve the vehicle output. It is in fact a race of who can do it better and more aggressive or conservative yet efficient. Those “solutions” became a cost of ecu remapping.
Our company would tune a Holden Commodore for only $900 and our price hasn’t changed for the last 10 years. Yet to do a tune on a petrol Mercedes we’d charge $1,450 and an Isuzu DMax ECU remapping would cost you only $1,250. In other words, we can say that ECU Remapping prices are divided into two groups diesel & petrol.
Petrol remapping is typically dear in comparison with diesel ecu remapping provided both processes similar. However, if you want to remap the ECU on your car due to a turbocharger upgrade price can be and usually is higher.
