Ford Courier Turbo Replacement
Ford Courier Turbo Replacement
“Postponed servicing” -or as we often refer- “she would be good mate” approach killed this Ford Courier’s turbocharger. The old turbo had to be replaced with a new aftermarket turbocharger. Ford Courier Turbo Replacement was recommended.
All turbos we install come with a 12-month warranty (parts & labour). We recommend our customers bring their vehicles in for a free check, typically 1,000 Km after installing a new turbo. By doing it we want to ensure that the new turbo on your vehicle operates by the manufacturer’s specifications. When we replace or repair a turbocharger we complete a “minor service”. This is a must-have for us which includes engine oil & oil filter replacement, as well as cleaning or replacing oil feeding lines.
How to extend the life of a new turbo?
A minor service ensures that there are no grounds for a turbo manufacturer to refuse your warranty claim if the need for it arises. Along with the minor service we also recommend EGR Delete for all diesel vehicles. Yet EGR Delete is optional and we leave it for our customers to decide.
Back to Ford Courier turbo replacement:- it was just a few days before Xmas 2023 … the turbo failed beyond repair. According to the owner – “it was known for a long time that the turbo wasn’t good” yet as we all understand if it goes it goes…Surely the old turbo failed right before Xmas. The period when everyone isn’t thinking about fixing their cars as we all know. The period when other priorities take place.
Unfortunately, not for the owner of this Ford Courier. This ute had to be fixed ASAP. After we inspected the vehicle, the owner was advised not to drive the vehicle at all. The Ford Courier turbocharger replacement was recommended.
The turbo was damaged so badly, to the point where turbo repairs would be dear in comparison with a new turbo replacement. Yet the owner insisted that she needed the ute and she must drive it due to her work commitments. We managed to find a compromise by providing a free-of-charge courtesy ute only to prevent further possible damages. For example, the old turbo could fall apart and damage the intake piping or the intercooler, making the cost of the repairs much higher.
Ford Courier Turbo Replacement was recommended for a few reasons:
- Oil starvation – resulting in the seased shaft of the turbine wheel.
- The blades of the turbine wheel started to touch the body, making it possible to rip the turbo assembly in parts with the subsequent possibility of damaging the intercooler.
